The Other Half of the Year
I’m tired of people hating winter. Yes there are those few short weeks in Autumn where the landscape is covered with rust hues of orange. But as soon as it’s come and gone it’s all complaints about how cold and wet and grey and dark and so on and on and on… You only have to take a moment to just stop and look. Actually look. Purples and blues dance in the atmosphere, and whilst the trees may be bare, there are alive with subtle greens and yellows and reds. The grey, misty, foggy days bring with it a mood that no other time of years sees. And fuck. It’s beautiful.
Every year I look forward to the challenges that trying to capture this landscape brings. So much subtlety, that it almost becomes an overwhelming experience in painting. I hope that this year I have done it a little more justice, so that you too may love it as much as I.
